Short Conclusions and Astrology, Five Guests and a lot of Fun! – English club meeting 06.05.10

On Thursday the 6th of May the Rheinredner met for their English Meeting.

Guess what – we had five guests. Mick was there once again. Bill, the Bahß’ uncle from USA visited us. There was Justin, a Toastmaster from Munich, plus Verena and Monika. I met Verena approximately one year ago during a presentation and I told her about the Rheinredner. After she didn’t show up during the next weeks I didn’t expect to see her again, but obviously the promise of discovering the fun in speaking was appealing to her and finally she gave it a try.

Since we had only three prepared speeches I squeezed in a little educational about evaluation. I presented a valuable tool that I was introduced to by a fellow Toastmaster from Berlin (Florian Mück – who will be in The Hague at the District Conference; make sure you talk to him, he certainly has a message!). The tool is a smashing Speech Evaluation Template that Florian has developed together with Mel Kelly, who has visited the Rheinredner club a couple of months ago and gave us a speech about “How to win an evaluation contest”.
